Drone FPV equipment on 5.8ghz

Hello ATV community!

I have found my way here with quite an interesting journey... I had never heard of ATV before Saturday Morning.
I fly FPV drones and have a Video Receiver capable of 5.8ghz. It was a very cloudy/foggy day for most of soCal, and I was at  Carey Ranch Park (34.2887° N, 118.4605° W). Using RaceBand channel 8 (5917mHz) I began to see some interference when standing in a particular spot in between a concrete table and a hill, and after slowly moving the direction of my video receiver antenna I was able to get a clear image of the Santiago Peak W6ATN! Link to photo of what I first saw below:

Mesmerized, I quickly googled Santiago PK, and saw it was 53 Miles away!

I'm still not 100% sure I was picking up the broadcast FROM Santiago PK, or another ATN repeater nearby. However, after some research I found that W6ATN Santiago PK is broadcasting on 5910mHz @ 100Watts!! Thats 100,000mw!

My strongest FPV hobby transmitter is 600mw, so this blew my mind.  Since it was cloudy and waves propagate better through a medium - I assumed I was able to see this due to perfect environmental conditions, but realistically have no idea what the range is on the 5.8ghz spectrum, or most other bands for that matter. Would love to become a part of this community and learn more!

I found the LIVE STREAM of Santiago PK, and found W6MAF doin shananigans! He whooped a Ray Gun and shouted "Shoot the picture!". It was the first time I saw a person/audio on the broadcast and I died laughing.

On my 5.8ghz feed, on channel 5917(yes, feed bled over from actual broadcast of 5910mHz), I was also able to see a map of ATN repeaters, and without and background knowledge on the ATN history - thought I had stumbled into some top-secret men in black sorta stuff...  Turns out its a bunch of friendly people making it all happen.

Here is a link to a Google Drive folder, containing some media from my discovery of ATN:
